Romark Logistics Named to Food Logistics’ Top Green Providers List for 2020 – the Second Year in a Row
Romark Logistics, a New Jersey-based logistics company, is proud to announce that it has been named one of the Top Green Providers for 2020 by Food Logistics for the second year in a row.
Food Logistics is the only publication exclusively dedicated to covering the movement of product through the global food supply chain. The “Top Green Providers List” is a resource guide that recognizes companies whose products, services or exemplary leadership is enhancing sustainability within the food and beverage industry.
Romark Logistics is committed to having a zero-carbon footprint; it owns and operates a 2-megawatt rooftop solar array on one of its refrigerated locations. This array consists of 8,512 solar panels and replaces 40% of the total facility utility usage.
Other sustainability initiatives include: upgrades to LED lighting, water conservation equipment, cooling tower upgrades, refrigeration changes, high-efficient battery charger upgrades, HVAC enhancements and improved energy efficiency within material handling equipment.
Romark Logistics considers its green initiatives to be a core commitment that benefits its employees, customers and the communities it serves.
“Being selected as a Top Green Provider by Food Logistics is a distinct honor; we pledge to continue to be leaders throughout the global food chain supply chain industry,” said Ryan Ziegler, Director of Facilities Management, Romark Logistics. “We have established a framework along with integrated tracking technology that allows us to monitor and measure our programs to ensure we comply or exceed all relevant regulatory requirements and meet our customers’ expectations.”
A company is evaluated by its participation in such programs as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay and other recognized sustainability programs. Other criteria include: facilities that are LEED-certified, and/or feature solar panels, LED lighting and other energy saving installations and retrofits that produce measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
“Our annual Top Green Providers award recognizes companies whose products, services or exemplary leadership enhances sustainability within the food and beverage industry,” said Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Food Logistics. “From technology that reduces a fleet’s carbon footprint to software that helps shippers drive energy efficiency to systems and processes that help reduce the carbon and environmental impact of its customers’ supply chains, these top green providers continue to practice the ultimate in sustainability year over year.”
